We’ve all hit tough financial times, right? If you’re a full-time seasonal worker like me and most of my friends, it’s usually only a couple of months after your last job before your money runs out. Have you ever faced a sudden layoff, financial hardship, divorce, or an injury?

Now, you might be wondering – what’s a full-time self-employed seasonal lifestyle?

For me, it means I’ve worked as a cook at a Primitive Wilderness Backcountry Camp every fall for over 30 years. I return season after season to the most remote location in the lower 48, where I work for weeks without a single day off, completely off-grid. No internet, no cell phone, no running water, and no electricity. And to get there? I ride horseback for over 32 miles, spending 10 hours up and over a 10,800-foot mountain pass just to reach camp, staying there for over six weeks.

Then, in the spring and summer, I own and operate my bed and breakfast just north of Yellowstone National Park. That’s my second full-time seasonal job, with downtime in between when tourists head home.

My third seasonal job? I teach Cast Iron cooking classes to help individuals land their dream job, doing what I do, and also teach individuals like yourself get started with a step-by-step process to help design a tailored plan to help you step into your seasonal dream jobs!

I made a big decision 39 years ago. It was a Friday at 5:00 pm. I stood up from my desk, walked over to the time clock, and punched out for the last time. I never looked back. I walked away from the corporate world and started building a life worth living – a life of freedom. I’ve raised 4 children in this lifestyle.

Being full-time seasonal self-employed isn’t just what I do, and it’s not for the faint of heart. It’s who I am. Life chose this path for me, and I happily embraced it.
